About the role:

Join the Research Capacity Development (RCD) team in the HPRU in Radiation Threats and Hazards (HPRU RTH) at Imperial College London as the Project and Communications Coordinator for an exciting and expanding training and capacity development portfolio.

This is a unique opportunity to support an ambitious pan-HPRU Research Capacity Development Programme, and provide enhanced training and career development support for Academy members, particularly early career researchers.

What you would be doing:

As a Project and Communications coordinator, you will plan, coordinate and deliver a wide range of training, capacity development, and research inclusion and health equity activities across the 15 Health Protection Research Units (HPRUs) funded by the National Institute for Health & Care Research (NIHR) across the UK.

The role is multifaceted and you will:

  • contribute to the development and implementation of a pan-NIHR HPRU/HPRFA Training Programme and research capacity development plan;
  • coordinate effective communication with a wide range of stakeholders, including co-applicants and collaborators, all 15 HPRUs nationally and other Network themes;
  • develop and deliver a coherent communications strategy; create and disseminate engaging content to promote the Network’s training and career development programme, mission, research achievements and community impact

What we are looking for:

  • A degree in relevant field (media communications, scientific discipline), or appropriate work experience
  • Experience of project management in a research or higher education environment
  • Strong experience of managing project budgets
  • Experience developing strong working relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders, including the public
  • Experience leading on large events organisation
  • Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, interacting productively with people at all levels
  • Experience writing content across multiple platforms e.g., company website, social media, newsletter, internal and external communications.
  • The ability to plan, strategise and manage multiple complex interdisciplinary tasks running simultaneously
  • Excellent time management; proven ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
