About the role
The UCL Department of Biochemical Engineering seeks a Workshop Technician to manufacture bespoke components, prototypes, and scientific eq uipment. Supporting research and teaching, you will produce precision-engineered assemblies using manual and CNC milling/turning, laser cutting, waterjet cutting, and 3D printing. You will interpret engineering drawings, assist with design, maintain equipment, and advise on manufacturing methods while adhering to health and safety standards.
About you
You have substantial experience in precision engineering and feel confident operating manual and CNC machine tools. You understand engineering materials, tolerances, laser/waterjet cutting, and 3D printing; CAD/CAM skills are advantageous. A proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills, you can manage multiple projects for staff and students. You hold a relevant engineering qualification (apprenticeship, HNC/HND, NVQ) or equivalent industrial experience. University or prototyping experience is beneficial but not essential.
