The Institute’s vision is for a world where international policy on global health is informed by world-class research. IGH aims to support the development of robust solutions to aspects of the world’s major global health challenges through scholarly outputs, education, public engagement, translational research, and ultimately by influencing public policy and professional practice. An enthusiastic and experienced generalist professional is sought for the post of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator in the Institute for Global Health (IGH), working closely with the Institute Manager, the Institute Director, the Director of EDI, the HR Officer, and the EDI Executive Committee. IGH holds an Athena SWAN (AS) Charter Silver Award in recognition of its commitment to advancing women’s careers in academia.
About the role
The role holder will be primarily responsible for leading and coordinating the Institute’s next Athena Swan application, using their project management experience and skills to ensure an effective and efficient approach. The successful applicant will also support the EDI Director and the EDI Committee with the development of the Institute’s EDI strategy, liaise with the Working Group Leads to ensure the timely implementation of the Institute’s Athena Swan Action Plan, and play an integral role in embedding EDI within the Institute culture and structures.
About you
It is essential that the successful candidate is educated to degree level or has equivalent experience. Knowledge of Athena SWAN award applications and up-to-date knowledge and understanding of equality, and data protection law and how it impacts on HR activities in a Higher Education environment are essential requirements of the post. The post holder should also have proven analytical skills, with the ability to summarise and present complex information to a range of audiences in a clear and engaging manner and excellent written communication skills, in particular the ability to produce concise minutes, briefings and reports with exceptional attention to detail.
