About the Role

As Senior Mail Services Assistant, you will support the day-to-day delivery of the University's Mail Service, helping to ensure an efficient, reliable and responsive service for departments and colleges across the University. Working closely with the Mail Services Manager, you will contribute to the smooth running of operations while maintaining high standards of customer service and operational performance.

You will help coordinate daily workloads, support the allocation of operational tasks and respond to customer enquiries, while undertaking a wide range of frontline mail, parcel and courier activities. The role includes supervising colleagues where required, supporting the induction and training of new team members, monitoring operational systems and covering for the Mail Services Manager on day-to-day operational matters during periods of absence.

This is a varied, site-based role offering the opportunity to make a visible contribution to the University's operations. Success in the role will come from delivering a consistent and dependable service, building positive relationships with colleagues and customers, and supporting continuous improvements that enhance the efficiency and sustainability of Mail Services.

About You

  • Experience working within logistics, mailroom, facilities management or a customer service environment, including coordinating workloads or supporting day-to-day operations.
  • Strong communication, organisational and IT skills, with the ability to deliver an excellent customer-focused service.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to undertake delivery rounds by motor vehicle and bicycle (including electric cargo-bike) across Oxford and University properties.
  • An understanding of Health and Safety requirements, with the ability to undertake manual handling duties safely.
