The Nottingham School of Economics has a number of openings for the role of Teaching Associate, offering an exciting opportunity to inspire and support the next generation of economists within one of the UK’s leading departments.
The School is internationally recognised for excellence in both research and teaching. We are ranked 7th in the UK by IDEAS/RePEc, 5th in REF2021 and 9th for Economics in The Times UK University Rankings 2026. You will join a lively, intellectually stimulating environment committed to academic rigour, innovation, and student success.
About the role
As Teaching Associate, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality, research‑informed teaching across our undergraduate programmes. We are particularly keen to hear from applicants with demonstrable teaching experience in Econometrics, while also welcoming applications from candidates with experience across the full range of Economics disciplines.
This is an ideal opportunity for an early‑career academic looking to develop their teaching portfolio within a supportive and inclusive School, alongside active engagement with our research culture.
Key responsibilities
About you
You will have, or be close to submission of, a PhD (or equivalent) in Economics or Econometrics. As teaching within the School is underpinned by research, applicants should outline their research interests and indicate which of the School’s Research Centres they would most closely associate with.
You will be an enthusiastic and reflective teacher, committed to inclusive education and continuous improvement, with the ability to engage and motivate students from diverse backgrounds.
Our community
The University of Nottingham is a supportive, inclusive and values‑driven community. We warmly welcome applications from candidates of all cultures, ethnicities and beliefs. Our diversity strengthens our academic environment and enriches life on campus, and we are committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive.
