This is an exciting opportunity to join the department of Psychiatry's finance team. 

The role provides essential financial and administrative support within the finance team, ensuring the accurate and timely processing, recording, and maintenance of financial transactions. The role is responsible for the efficient handling of high-volume financial activity, including the processing of invoices, expense claims, payments, receipts, and journal entries, often involving hundreds of transactions on a monthly basis.

The postholder is required to maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial records through the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions, reconciliation of accounts, investigation and resolution of discrepancies, and updating financial systems in accordance with established procedures and controls. The role also contributes to the preparation of financial information for month-end and year-end reporting, assisting in the production of management information and supporting statutory and audit requirements.

Working as part of the finance team, the Accounts Assistant supports Managers, Budget Holders, employees, students and visitors and other stakeholders by providing reliable financial data and transactional support. The role plays an important part in budget monitoring, expenditure control, and resource management by ensuring that financial information is recorded accurately and made available in a timely manner.

The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate strong numerical, organisational, and communication skills, together with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. They will be able to work effectively within a team environment, manage competing priorities, and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial information.

Through the delivery of accurate financial processing and record keeping, the Accounts Assistant contributes to the organisation's objectives of financial sustainability, transparency, compliance, and operational excellence. The role supports adherence to financial regulations, internal controls, and policies, helping to ensure that the organisation's financial resources are managed efficiently and responsibly.
