An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Professor of Crime Writing to join the School of Literature, Drama and Creative Writing to provide strategic leadership in the teaching and promotion of UEA’s highly successful Creative Writing MA Crime Fiction. The Lee Child Professor of Crime Writing will be an internationally renowned crime writer or a major new crime writing talent with an acclaimed publication record, and some creative writing teaching/mentoring experience. You will provide intellectual leadership in creative writing crime fiction teaching, run public events and raise the profile of crime writing at UEA nationally and internationally.   

You will take a prominent role in the teaching of Crime Writing at UEA and related Creative Writing and be responsible fordelivering allocated teaching and assessment of specific crime writing modules including lectures, seminars, workshops, tutorials, collaborative and team teaching. You will be expected to maintain a high profile as a leader in your field of crime writing.  

This post, and some dedicated administrative support, has been generously funded by the acclaimed and best-selling crime writer, Lee Child. Lee Child funds new crime writing professorship at UEA to shape the future of crime writing | UEA

This part-time (0.5 FTE) post is available from 1 January 2027 for a fixed term period of 3 years.
