The Mathematics Resources Centre (MASH) is looking for a part-time Statistics Lead & Teaching Fellow within the Skills Centre.

This role will lead, coordinate, develop and deliver statistics and data analysis support, advice & guidance for students and staff with intermediate to higher-level statistical requirements. 

About the role

We are looking for someone with applied statistics and high-level communication skills to:

  • provide expert advice, to undergraduates, postgraduates or staff undertaking research, on the analysis of data & use of statistics
  • provide leadership and coordination in an enthusiastic team building high-quality statistical support, revision & student-centred learning experiences

MASH provides high-quality maths & statistics support to all members of the university. We are a flagship for academic skills support in the university, and are highly regarded at the national level where we contribute substantially to the work of the sigma Network.

As part of the MASH team, through the continual review and improvement of our services, help us meet the needs of all our students! 

About you

As a graduate with a good first degree in statistics or with high statistical content, you will either have a relevant postgraduate qualification or will have equivalent proven skills as an applied statistician. You may have or be seeking professional membership of the Royal Statistical Society or similar body. Your experience and expertise will include:

  • Extensive knowledge of techniques and technology for data & statistical analysis
  • Experience providing expert statistical guidance, advice or consultancy or of establishing collaborations with colleagues from a variety of academic & professional backgrounds
  • Experience of leading projects, coordinating & developing staff

Your experience providing statistical support to non-specialists will demonstrate your strong communication skills and empathy with those for whom statistics or working with data is unfamiliar or daunting. 

A desire to engage with the wider mathematics support community, for example through sigma, is beneficial.
