The opportunity
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our expanding team as Senior Lecturer in 3D and Visual Effects at London College of Communication (LCC). The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and delivering the curriculum across all three years of BA Computer Animation and Visual Effects.
You will play a pivotal role in teaching and assessment at undergraduate level, work closely with the Course Leader, contribute to curriculum development, have expertise in industry workflows and pipelines, foster collaboration within the course teams, and provide pastoral support to students.
BA Computer Animation and Visual Effects resides within the Moving Image and Digital Arts Programme alongside Animation, Immersive Media, Games Art and Games Design courses within the Screen School. The role offers a unique opportunity for a candidate who is committed to maintaining an innovative creative curriculum in this area of the School’s portfolio, and who is keen to promote inclusion and cultural diversity for graduates looking to develop a deep understanding of the complex specialist skillset of 3D and Visual Effects.
About you
You will be an outstanding leader, teacher, practitioner and/or researcher. You will have experience of higher education (or comparable context), an ability to lead on curriculum development and assessment, and be able to contribute to the Programme’s research and/ or knowledge exchange profile.
You should be comfortable working with diverse cohorts of students and committed to a teaching approach that integrates theory and practice and engaging students through a combination of innovative pedagogy, knowledge exchange and/or research.
You should possess a record of professional practice/research, with particular proficiency in character animation within Maya, Houdini pipelines, Z-brush and Substance Painter. Knowledge of other relevant software is desirable such as 3D Equaliser.
You will be keen to use your academic and/or industry-based experience to support the development of student work. You’ll be proactive and actively contribute to the programme’s aims and vision. You should have a strong understanding of the contemporary context of Visual Effects in an academic and/or professional setting and be engaged in relevant networks and communities of practice within this and/or related fields.
Ideally, you’ll have a relevant teaching qualification or recognition. An undergraduate qualification in a creative field is preferred but not essential if comparable experience can be evidenced.
