Machine Learning Scientist (KTP Associate) in Multimodal Data Integration

We are looking to appoint a skilled Machine Learning Scientist (KTP Associate) in Multimodal Data Integration with a background in deep learning. This is an exceptional opportunity to work as a KTP Associate in collaboration between AstraZeneca and Queen Mary University of London (QMUL) within the domain of Artificial Intelligence for multimodal integration of multi-omics and imaging data.

About the Role
The position is a joint initiative between Queen Mary University of London, and AstraZeneca, with the successful candidate based in the AstraZeneca Discovery Centre in Cambridge, a world-class R&D facility accommodating over 2,200 research scientists. You will be an employee of Queen Mary University of London and given access rights to facilitate your engagement at AstraZeneca. The postholder will be expected to travel to DERI periodically for research and training.

The project aims to develop innovative multimodal deep learning methodologies to accelerate drug discovery. Specifically, AstraZeneca is researching advanced omics technologies, such as transcriptomics and proteomics, along with imaging, to characterise cells affected by chemical or genetic perturbations. Leveraging advanced AI methodologies developed in DERI at QMUL, this project will explore deep learning-based multimodal integration of the omics and imaging data sets, taking their correlation and complementarity to build predictive systems and provide biological insights.

About You
The ideal candidate will have, or be near completing, a PhD in computer science, bioinformatics or a related field, with experience of interdisciplinary research and a keen interest in life sciences.
