Project: Implementing a care bundle for pregnant women with multiple long-term health conditions: a feasibility study (i-Bump)

Applications are invited for an enthusiastic and motivated Research Fellow to work in the Aberdeen Centre for Women’s Health Research within the Institute of Applied Health Science (IAHS) at the University of Aberdeen. The successful candidate will work alongside, and be line managed by Dr Mairead Black, Reader in Obstetrics.

I-Bump is a multicentre UK study that aims to transform how care for pregnant women with two or more (mental or physical) health conditions are cared for. It utilises findings from the UK MuM-Predict study, which demonstrated the epidemiology of multiple long-term health conditions (MLTC) in pregnancy, explored the experiences of care provision from both women and health professional perspectives, and identified key components of a care bundle for future testing. The i-Bump project will underpin future research and practice relating to MLTC in pregnancy. This research fellow role offers a rare opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary clinical and research teams to address critical questions around NHS care delivery for pregnant women with MLTC.

The postholder will play a central academic role, leading and contributing to care bundle refinement and feasibility testing. Working closely with investigators across the i-Bump project (including a parallel post-doctoral researcher at Birmingham City University), you will help shape the refinement and testing of the i-Bump care bundle in two initial NHS sites, followed by a further two during the second half of the project. You will lead writing of key publications, and may support future grant development. We are looking for a motivated researcher with a PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. obstetrics, midwifery, public health, clinical psychology or implementation science) who is excited by collaborative applied research.

Salary will be paid at the rate of £38,784 - £42,254 per annum on Grade 6 of the University salary scale.
