We seek to appoint a postdoctoral researcher in delivery of our new project ‘ScotLuxSplash’ that starts later this year.

This exciting new UKRI-funded project will explore how to strengthen connections between citizen scientists and policy makers, tracing how different forms of knowledges can be better connected and used in catchment governance processes, in both in Scotland and Luxembourg.  The researcher will work with Dr Kerry Waylen and Dr Kirsty Blackstock in Scotland, and will be given the opportunity to develop their skills in collaboration with colleagues in both countries.

This is the ideal opportunity for a researcher working in the environmental social sciences who wants to connect conceptual insights with real-world practices.  Applicants must already have strong qualitative social science skills but who also has an interest or expertise in working with other methods and data sources

This is a fixed term contract of 3.5 years, starting any time between January and March 2027.  This post is advertised across Hutton levels 4/5, with the duties varied accordingly.

The post-holder will be based in the Social, Economic and Geographical Sciences (SEGS) department, at the James Hutton Institute in Aberdeen. Our department contains a range of researchers, using a range of qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods and often taking interdisciplinary and/or participatory perspectives, working on major contemporary social and economic research challenges.  We offer a friendly and supportive working environment, with a good range of employee benefits, professional development opportunities and flexible work options.
