The University of Gloucestershire is seeking inspirational individuals for a Professor of Cyber Security to play a leading role in the development of Golden Valley, a nationally significant development bringing together expertise across cyber, technology, innovation, education and industry.  

This is an opportunity to influence the future of cyber security education, research and innovation while helping to build meaningful partnerships across academia, industry, government and the wider cyber community. 

We are particularly interested in hearing from people whose expertise has been developed through academic research, industry practice, or a combination of both. About the role 

Working closely with University leaders, external partners and colleagues across our School of Business, Computing and Social Sciences, you will provide strategic leadership for our contribution to Golden Valley and the wider cyber security ecosystem.  

You will: 

  • Build and strengthen partnerships with organisations across the cyber, technology and security sectors. 
  • Support the development of a vibrant research and innovation culture. 
  • Help shape the future direction of cyber security and computing education. 
  • Champion knowledge exchange, commercialisation and real-world impact. 
  • Mentor and support colleagues at all career stages. 
  • Inspire students through excellent teaching and academic leadership. 
  • Represent the University within regional and national networks.  

What we're looking for 

We're looking for a collaborative and forward-thinking leader with a strong reputation in cyber security and a passion for making a difference. 

Your expertise might include areas such as: 

  • Artificial Intelligence and cyber security 
  • Human factors, ethics and security 
  • Threat intelligence and advanced threats 
  • Blockchain and emerging technologies 
  • Secure systems and software development 
  • Other developing areas of cyber security and digital resilience  

You'll bring: 

  • A doctoral qualification (or equivalent professional standing) in a relevant field. 
  • An established profile in cyber security. 
  • Experience of leading people, projects or strategic initiatives. 
  • The ability to develop productive partnerships and networks. 
  • A commitment to supporting colleagues and helping others succeed. 
  • Strong communication and influencing skills. 
  • A genuine commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion.
