Associate Lecturer in the History of Art

About the Role

The post holder will teach across the SOAS-Alphawood Asian Art Programme throughout the 2026– 27 academic year, delivering online and in-person modules as a sole or co-convenor. They will supervise independent study projects and MA dissertations, provide academic advising, and teach across a range of subjects beyond their own specialism. The role includes marking postgraduate work, supporting curriculum development and pedagogical innovation, and working collaboratively with the Programme Director, Programme Manager, Student and Academic Support Officers, module convenors, and the wider SOAS community to enhance teaching and student learning.

About the Department

The SOAS-Alphawood Asian Art Programme, part of the College of Humanities, offers postgraduate qualifications and specialist short courses in Asian and Middle Eastern art, delivered both online and in person. The programme combines object-based study with art historical theory and practice, providing an inclusive, supportive learning environment for students from diverse backgrounds. It has formal partnerships with the British Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum, collaborates with guest contributors from the UK and internationally, and is generously supported by the Alphawood Foundation in Chicago.
