About Role
The Fire Safety Operations Manager will be the technical lead for MEP and Fabric Fire Safety across Queen Mary University of London, providing strategic and operational management of fire safety infrastructure. The post holder will ensure compliance with fire safety legislation, British Standards and University policies, while supporting the safe maintenance, refurbishment and development of residential and non-residential buildings through the management of fire safety systems, fire risk assessment actions, specialist consultancy support and the provision of expert technical advice to maintenance teams, projects, contractors and key stakeholders.
About You
The successful candidate will have experience in fire safety management, including the implementation of Fire Risk Assessment actions, development of Fire Safety Strategies, and the creation of fire safety policies and procedures within large, complex organisations. They will possess a strong knowledge of fire safety legislation, Approved Document B (ADB), BS 9999, BS 9991 and BS 5839, together with an understanding of building construction, technical drawings and fire safety systems. A minimum Level 4 Fire Safety qualification (e.g. CFPA Diploma or Fire Safety (Inspectors)) is essential, along with Institute of Fire Engineers (IFE) Member status (MIFireE), or a willingness to achieve this within 12 months of appointment.
