About the role:

Do you have excellent administrative and communication skills, an interest in global health and vaccines, and wish to develop a career in project management? As our iSpy Research Network Co-ordinator, you will be co-ordinating an international network of scientists who are working towards a better understanding of immunity to Streptococcus pyogenes (Strep A) and towards a vaccine to prevent Strep A. The iSpy-LIFE subnetwork has investigators in nine institutions in the UK, Sweden, Holland, Canada, Gambia, South Africa, and Australia. 

You will also be providing day-to-day operational support to the iSpy team at Imperial and will liaise with our partner subnetwork iSpy-EXPLORE which operates in North America, Brazil, Fiji, Australia and New Zealand.

What you would be doing:

  • Your primary role will be to act as the point of contact for all of our partners in the iSpy-LIFE subnetwork. You will be co-ordinating quarterly payments from our funder to ensure each research team receives funds in a timely manner and also will organise the scientific meetings of iSpy-LIFE and when needed iSpy-EXPLORE, either on-line or in person.
  • You will act as the point of contact with Imperial’s own finance team, and research contracts team as relevant, co-ordinate any shipments of materials and samples between subnetwork members, and maintain our website and social media account.
  • You will also act as the main point of administrative contact for the Imperial component of the iSpy subnetwork’s work, with regard to regulatory compliance and governance issues, and provide operational support to the research team in delivery of their fieldwork and lab work (which includes a school transmission study and a hospital study of patients).
  • You will support coordination of study in a range of ways depending on experience, for example, study material readiness, liaison with partners in schools, UKHSA, NIHR schools network, and research staff.

  • Degree or equivalent, preferably in science of healthcare subject
  • Experience of managing projects and working in research environment
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Excellent numeric skills
  • Ability to prioritise work appropriately
  • Willingness to take on new tasks as the role develops

Further Information

This is a part-time role (up to 0.7 FTE) and is available until 31 December 2028.

Hybrid working may be considered for this role and the opportunity for hybrid working will be discussed at interview.   Staff working in roles that are suitable for hybrid working will normally be expected to work 60% of their time on site.  Flexibility is required as the role involves sometimes unpredictable operational support which is on site.
