We are a world class research-intensive university. We deliver teaching and learning of the highest quality. We play a leading role in economic, social and cultural development of the North East of England. Attracting and retaining high-calibre people is fundamental to our continued success.
The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Research Assistant to contribute to an intensive research programme within a European-funded collaborative project. The successful candidate will play a key role in the optimisation and characterisation of naturally derived hydrogel systems crosslinked through Strain-Promoted Azide-Alkyne Cycloaddition (SPAAC) click chemistry.
The project has clearly defined milestones and deliverables that must be achieved within the six-month contract period. Due to the short duration of the post, applicants must already possess practical experience in SPAAC click chemistry and hydrogel/material characterisation techniques, enabling them to contribute effectively with minimal training.
The post holder will work closely with project partners and the wider research team to generate high-quality experimental data, perform statistical analyses, contribute to technical reporting, and support dissemination activities.
As part of our commitment to career development for research colleagues, the University has developed 3 levels of Research Innovation Role Profiles.pdf. These profiles set out firstly the generic competencies and responsibilities expected of role holders at each level and, secondly, the general qualifications and experiences needed for entry at a particular level.
