Medical Education Fellow – Year 1 MBBS

FTE: 1.0 fte (working 37 hours per week)

Duration of Contract: Fixed term for 9 months

Annual Leave: 35 days  plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year

Location: College Lane Campus

Main duties and responsibilities

The Medical Education Fellow – Year 1 MBBS will support the delivery of teaching clinical communication skills, clinical skills, anatomy, case-based learning and simulation teaching (including immersive learning and Team Based Learning) to medical students on year 1 of the MBBS programme. They will assist with the supervision of research project work and research activities.

They will support assessment activities by writing, quality assuring and marking written examination questions and developing Single best answer questions and OSCE stations. They will coordinate practical sessions and assist with coordination and preparation of module teaching and learning activities.

Skills and experience required

You will be able to demonstrate appropriate teaching ability, excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate to different audiences efficiently. You will have the ability to work accurately under pressure to tight deadlines, and deal with sensitive material with strict confidentiality. You will have a secure understanding of diversity and inclusivity in medical education, and be able to collect, process, analyse and present complex data.

Qualifications required

The successful candidate will be educated with a minimum of an undergraduate degree or equivalent level qualification in Medicine, will have completed Foundation training in the UK, and will be registered with the GMC with a licence to practise.

In the course of our work and University-led activities, there may be external contractual obligations where a further Enhanced Check is required. DBS checks may require renewal in line with policy.
