Research Assistant

About the Role
Applications are invited for a Bart’s Charity-funded Research Assistant post in the laboratory of Dr Loïc Rolas, within the Centre for Microvascular Research at the William Harvey Research Institute, Queen Mary University of London.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an emerging research team investigating how vascular ageing influences immune cell behaviour during inflammation. Building on recent findings from the group, the appointed candidate will contribute to a project focused on the role of endothelial cell senescence in the dysregulation of immune responses to inflammatory insults.

The project has significant pathophysiological relevance to ageing and cardiovascular disease and will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to contribute to research at the interface of vascular biology, inflammation and ageing.

About You
Applicants must be enthusiastic researchers with significant laboratory experience. Proficiency in in vivo procedures, animal husbandry, knowledge of transgene mouse technologies and possession of a Home Office Personal License will be essential. Microscopy skills and/or other basic laboratory methods will be advantageous.

The William Harvey Research Institute leads major international programmes into the mechanisms of cardiovascular, inflammatory and endocrine diseases. FMD is home to one of the UK’s most prestigious Medical Schools and QMUL has been a member of the elite research active Russell Group of Universities since 2012.

The Charterhouse Square Campus is in the heart of the City of London and is close to the Barbican Art and Music Centre and St Paul’s Cathedral.
