The Medical Research Council (MRC) Toxicology Unit is an internationally renowned institution focussed on the delivery of field-changing mechanistic insights into toxicology and disease.

We are looking to appoint a Senior Laboratory Technician to support the Tissue Culture Laboratories and Media Kitchen, to ensure the smooth running of the MRC Toxicology Unit and research groups. You will be responsible for maintaining the tissue culture research laboratories and ensuring that adequate stocks of sterile media, reagents, consumables, glassware, and equipment are available.

The successful candidate will also supervise other members of the team, deliver training to new users of the facility, and liaise with the Departmental Safety Officer to ensure that codes of practice and relevant safety regulations are adhered to within the research laboratories. The role will also involve maintaining and reviewing risk assessments and standard operating procedures.

You will have practical experience in laboratory and biological research, as well as good communication and interpersonal skills. Knowledge and experience of tissue culture, laboratory and aseptic techniques is desirable. You will also have good IT skills, strong organisational and prioritisation skills, and the ability to work with a high degree of precision and accuracy. A qualification equitable to HND/HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualifications or an equivalent level of practical experience is essential.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2029 in the first instance.
