About the role:

We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Osier Laboratory in the Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London.

The Osier Laboratory's vision is to "Make Malaria History" through the development of highly effective vaccines. Our research spans vaccine candidate discovery, the identification of correlates of protection, mechanisms of protective immunity, and approaches to strengthen vaccine research, development and biomanufacturing capacity across Africa.

This project will investigate the scientific, economic and policy factors that influence vaccine research and development (R&D) and manufacturing capability.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop a PhD project as part of a 3-year post.

What you would be doing:

You will contribute to an exciting multidisciplinary research programme investigating how scientific innovation, financing mechanisms, policy and international partnerships can strengthen vaccine research, development and manufacturing across Africa.

Working with collaborators from academia and international partner organisations, you will undertake evidence synthesis, policy analysis, stakeholder engagement and qualitative and quantitative data analysis to generate evidence that informs sustainable vaccine innovation ecosystems. You will contribute to scientific publications, reports and grant applications, while supporting project coordination and the dissemination of research findings through conferences, workshops and stakeholder meetings. You will also contribute to the wider activities of the Osier Laboratory and work closely with a diverse network of collaborators across multiple disciplines.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking a passionate and driven individual with:

  • A master’s degree (or equivalent) in Global Health, Public Health, Health Economics, Biomedical Sciences, Drug Development or a related discipline.
  • Experience conducting literature reviews and synthesising scientific evidence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience preparing reports or scientific publications.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience analysing qualitative and/or quantitative research data.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • The ability to prioritise competing deadlines, use initiative, and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • High standards of accuracy, record keeping and attention to detail.

Experience in one or more of the following would be advantageous:

  • Global health policy or health systems research.
  • Vaccine research and development or biomanufacturing.
  • Health economics or financing for health innovation.
