Are you passionate about helping students feel confident, supported and able to get the most from their university experience? We are looking for a solution-focused and student-centred individual to join our Library Services team as Assistant Librarian (Engagement), where you will play an important part in making the Library welcoming, accessible and visible to students across Birmingham Newman University.
As a key member of the Library Engagement and Experience Team, you will provide visible, approachable and timely support to students at the point of need. Acting as the main point of contact on the Library’s enquiry desk, you will help students with library use, basic referencing and finding academic information, referring more specialist queries to the Academic Engagement Librarians where needed. You will also support the development of the Library’s digital enquiry and support services, including webpages and the enquiry management system, and take a lead role in student-facing communications, marketing campaigns and engagement initiatives. Alongside this, you will provide administrative support to the Academic Engagement Librarians.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about student experience, confident in working with people and able to communicate clearly with a diverse range of library users. You will be educated to degree level or equivalent, with strong digital skills, good attention to detail and the ability to work accurately and methodically.
A formal library qualification is not essential, but you should have an understanding of the student lifecycle and be willing to develop the library, enquiry and information skills needed for the post.
