Salary from £43,277 to £51,714 pa with potential to progress to £55,497 pa inclusive of London allowance.

This is a 12 month fixed term appointment (maternity cover) from November 2026.

The Department of Government is a large and vibrant academic unit within the LSE and world-leading centre for study and research in politics and government. The successful candidate will join a supportive and collaborative professional services team that plays a vital role in delivering taught and research programmes within the Department.

You will be responsible for the operational management of the Department's MRes/PhD programme while also leading key aspects of teaching planning and programme delivery across the Department. Working closely with academic colleagues and senior professional services staff, you will help shape the experience of doctoral researchers and contribute to the successful delivery of teaching and learning activities across a large and complex academic portfolio

You will be a highly organised and collaborative professional with experience of delivering complex administrative processes and services in a higher education or similarly complex environment.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of supporting academic programmes and working with academic staff.  
  • Ability to plan and prioritise a varied workload to ensure that team and individual objectives are met. Ability to work effectively with limited supervision, and to prioritise work and to meet deadlines. 
  • Experience of building effective relationships with a wide range of stakeholders. Ability to represent the department in internal and external forums and networks. 
  • Excellent verbal and written skills and the ability to communicate effectively and confidently to a variety of audiences. 
  • A proactive and solution-focused approach to managing change and improving processes.
  • Ability to proactively identify and manage risks as well as the ability to develop practical solutions to complex problems. 
  • Ability to contribute to strategic decision-making and planning.
