Events Officer (International)

University of Leeds - Advancement Team

Location: Leeds, Hybrid/On-site
Salary: £33,951 to £39,906 per annum
Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent
Placed On: 4th September 2026
Closes: 20th September 2026
Job Ref: PSADV1094

This role will be based on the university campus with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner.

Are you an experienced events professional skilled in planning and managing outstanding events, online and in-person? Can you think creatively to develop and implement a programme of events for our international audiences?

We are looking for an Events Officer to develop, plan, run and evaluate events that will support the development of relationships with our potential donors, donors and volunteers. This will include alumni as well as individuals who didn't study at Leeds, but who may have an interest in our work because they live in the region or have an interest in an area of our academic strength and impact. It also includes representatives from charitable trusts and foundations or companies.

More than 118,000 contactable Leeds alumni live outside the UK. You will work closely with colleagues across the Events and Networks Team, Advancement Team, and University more broadly to design and run events that will engage and enthuse Leeds’ international audiences. These may be in person in a particular city and country, online to engage multiple audience groups, or a combination, where we are engaging our global community in simultaneous activity. Events will range from large-scale receptions to smaller get-togethers, dinners and exclusive activities. In all cases they will be relevant and engaging to particular local and regional audiences, enhancing their sense of community and connection to the University.

You will also work closely and collaboratively with colleagues in the International Office, Marketing and Careers Teams to create, co-create and support events that other members of staff are organising and attending.

You will use your substantial experience of creating and project-managing high-quality and purpose-driven events of different types and scales, shaping the messaging, tone and style of an event to meet a particular objective or audience, and you will have experience of organising international events with cultural sensitivity and awareness relevant to our global alumni communities. You will manage some overseas events in person; therefore this role involves approximately 5-6 weeks of international travel over the course of a year, including evening and weekend working.

You will be experienced in seeing an event from initial idea to implementation and review, combining high levels of organisation with a commitment to delivering an outstanding attendee experience.

You will have the ability to develop relationships with a variety of colleagues at all levels to identify needs and opportunities, and the role that events plays in meeting these. You will thrive on working collaboratively with colleagues across the University. You will find real reward in bringing people together, in person and online, and in the impact that has on attendees, the University and the wider Leeds community.

Interviews are expected to take place in week commencing 20 October 2026.

Please note that due to Home Office visa requirements, this role may only be suitable for first-time Skilled Worker visa applicants if they are eligible for salary concessions. For more information please visit: www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa
