Working within the Research, Partnerships and Innovation department, we have an exciting opportunity to join the ‘Emerge. Be Enterprising’ team on a fixed term contract. We are looking for someone with an interest in business and entrepreneurship, but importantly you will need a passion for people to help us grow a vibrant community, connecting students, graduates and business leads across the University and city.
You will be joining a team where it will be necessary to have a creative approach to your work, be well organised, comfortable running events and can communicate effectively across multi-channel campaigns. Emerge is building a pipeline of early stage business founders and freelancers through our student and graduate community. You will play an integral part engaging and spotlighting this talent along with their business ideas to further the University’s reputation as a pivotal institution within the local business economy.
Emerge is an extra-curricular professional service within the University, so you’ll be expected to liaise and collaborate with a range of students, colleagues and academics across different departments, and student societies, as well as our external and alumni networks to ensure our programme and activities reach our intended audiences.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone to develop their skills and knowledge on the business startup journey, and to be plugged into the wider regional activity developing in South Yorkshire.
You will be supporting the delivery of an engaging calendar of events and competitions aimed to inspire and develop our core audience, taking into account objectives, cost and timescale implications as well as resource requirements. Being able to manage a broad remit, prioritise own workload effectively and work to multiple deadlines will be important as you collaborate with the team to identify key messages and opportunities that align to our core mission to help students start businesses.
Experience organising and managing an inclusive community will be essential, keeping our members inspired, engaged and informed. We’d expect the person taking on this role to be capable of managing, running and evaluating digital marketing campaigns with a working knowledge of web technologies, digital applications, UK media (including social networks), social media tools, and current communication trends.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
