Hours: Full Time
Contract Type: Permanent

About the Role

The Department of Economics is looking to appoint an experienced administrator to support the smooth delivery of the undergraduate teaching programmes within the Department in order to deliver an outstanding teaching and learning experience for undergraduate students.

The Undergraduate Office is a busy, thriving area with a large student cohort and lots of both face-to-face and online contact with students and staff. Dealing with module registration, timetabling, assessments, feedback, examinations, mitigating circumstances and other student queries, your workload will be busy, varied and interesting. You will also be expected to support and participate in student events, such as open days, student enrolment, and graduation.

We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis (e.g. job share), despite the position being advertised as full-time.

We welcome applications from candidates seeking a minimum of 32.85 hours per week (0.9 FTE).

For details on the experience and skills required, please refer to the job description.

About You

You will be educated to A-Level standard or equivalent, with relevant experience in a student administration role in the higher education sector.

You will be an organised person with a high level of IT literacy and with the ability to prioritise a varied workload whilst working both independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication skills, combined with the ability to build and manage effective relationships, with both staff and students, are critical for this role.

This role offers the successful candidate the opportunity to build upon their knowledge of higher education administration in a successful and supportive academic department.

About the Department

This is an excellent opportunity to join the vibrant Economics community and contribute to the activities that consistently result in the department ranking in the top 5 economics departments in the UK for research and teaching.

We have adopted hybrid working and professional services staff have the option to work from home for up to two days a week. However, this is dependent on business need and there may be a requirement to come to campus for more days during busier periods.

You will need to be available for some evening and weekend work as necessary. Advanced notice will be given.

How to Apply

To apply please complete your essential personal details and attach a CV and cover letter by 11.59 pm on the closing date of Tuesday 15th September 2026.

Please ensure your CV includes your most recent employment experience along with any additional relevant experience and education history.

Your cover letter should detail your motivation for applying for the role as well as detailing how you meet the essential and desirable criteria.

The interviews will be held on a date to be confirmed.
