Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Education and Educational and Developmental Psychology

We are seeking a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer to join the University’s Institute of Education - Te Kura o Te Matauranga within the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced and collegial academic and/or practitioner to contribute to teaching, research, supervision, and professional practice within Educational and Developmental Psychology and related fields in Aotearoa.

The successful applicant will contribute to the continued development of educational and accredited programmes, support student success, engage in research and scholarship, and foster strong relationships with professional, community, and educational stakeholders and contribute to fulfilling Te Tiriti o Waitangi obligations.

About this role

This is a full-time, ongoing Lecturer or Senior Lecturer appointment based at our Manawatu (Palmerston North) campus. Salary will be commensurate with skills, experience, and academic achievement, with appointment made at either Lecturer (NZ$86,113 - $109,901) or Senior Lecturer (NZ$107,916 - $152,711) level.

Reporting to the Head of the Institute of Education Te Kura o Te Matauranga and Director of Accredited Programmes in association with the Kaihautu Maori, you will contribute to learning and teaching, professional practice, student supervision, research and scholarship, and service within the Institute and wider University community.

This position will play a key role within our Educational and Developmental Psychology programmes, contributing to the education and development of future psychologists and professionals working within educational settings.

Key responsibilities and opportunities include:

• Teaching and contributing to the Master of Educational and Developmental Psychology (MEdDevPsych) and Postgraduate Diploma in Educational and Developmental Psychology (PGDipEdDevPsych) programmes.
• Supporting student learning and development across both undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, aligned with your areas of expertise and interest.
• Contributing to an industry-accredited pathway that leads to registration with the New Zealand Psychologists Board.
• Working within a bicultural programme that prioritises culturally responsive practice and supports positive outcomes for Maori learners and communities.
• Helping develop graduates who can effectively apply educational, developmental and psychological knowledge to support lifelong learning and wellbeing.
• Contributing to research and scholarship that informs professional practice and advances the discipline.
• Supporting students to critically analyse and respond to contemporary educational, developmental and psychological issues, policies and practices.
• Collaborating with colleagues to ensure graduates are well equipped to make meaningful contributions within educational, community and professional settings.
