Power Sector Research Associate - S-Curve Economics

1 year fixed-term contract, 0.8 or 1 FTE.

Remote, with mandatory 1 day/month in London (and maximum of 2 days/ week co-working in our London offices, if preferred).

S-Curve Economics CIC, a non-profit think tank dedicated to advancing understanding of the economics of the low carbon transition, is seeking a Power Sector Research Associate. We are recruiting for an additional member of our Power Sector Transition team to help shape the future of clean, reliable, and affordable electricity systems.

We are seeking a Research Associate to contribute to innovative research and policy engagement on power market reform, with a particular focus on energy storage and the transition to low-carbon power systems. The role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile international projects - including the UK-China Power Market Reform Advisory Group (PMRAG) - and to collaborate with governments, research organisations, and industry experts globally, with a strong geographic focus on the UK and China. In this role, you will undertake rigorous research and analysis, contribute to high-impact reports and policy briefings, support project delivery and international partner engagement, and play an active role in expanding S-Curve Economics' portfolio of power sector transition work.

We are looking for someone who has:

• Knowledge and experience of the power sector.
• Analytical skills, ideally including modelling experience.
• Partner management and engagement skills.
• Ability to communicate clearly and persuasively, in writing and in speech.
• Initiative and a good teamworking approach.

The role is fully remote, with occasional travel to London required (minimum of 1 day/month). If based abroad, you must provide evidence that you have the right to work in your country of residence.
