This is an exciting opportunity to join the University’s Data & Analytics Team at a pivotal point in the delivery of the University Data Strategy. You will help develop the trusted data, analytical products and reporting services that support strategic planning, forecasting and institutional performance management.

As a key member of the Data & Analytics Team, you will play an important role in developing the technical and cultural foundations that enable trusted, accessible and engaging analytics across the University. As part of the University's data transformation programme, you will design, develop and maintain cloud-based analytics solutions using Snowflake, dbt/SQL and modern data engineering practices.

Working closely with colleagues in IT Services and across Planning and Performance Insight, you will develop and maintain data pipelines, reusable data models and enterprise reports that underpin strategic planning, forecasting and institutional performance management. You will provide additional support for several key institutional systems including Cognos Planning Analytics and Simitive, and support the delivery of student number forecasts. You will also work closely with stakeholders across the University to build data literacy and develop the necessary foundations that enable users to make quicker, more autonomous, and better-informed decisions.

Person spec

We are looking for an analytical and technically capable individual with up-to-date knowledge and experience in a relevant scientific, technical or IT specialism. You will have substantial hands-on experience of developing reports using a modern visualisation tool such as Power BI or Tableau, together with experience of extracting, modelling or transforming data using SQL or Snowflake.

You will understand the importance of user experience in reporting and be able to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. You will contribute to the exploration and adoption of emerging technologies, including AI-enabled solutions, to enhance analytical capabilities, support business processes and complement enterprise reporting activities.
