Applicants must be available to start on 1 October 2026 and remain available for the full duration of the appointment. This is a full-time, in-person role based at Birkbeck’s Bloomsbury campus. The successful candidate will be expected to work on site.

Purpose of the Job
To design and develop data analytics capabilities for the Warestack open-source project, focusing on the collection, processing and analysis of operational data generated by software delivery and DevOps workflows.

The postholder will work with data from sources including GitHub Actions, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure, logs, workflow executions and system events. They will develop analytics, monitoring capabilities and AI-assisted insights to improve operational visibility, reliability and decision-making.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop Python-based pipelines to collect, clean, transform and analyse operational data from cloud infrastructure, GitHub APIs and DevOps environments.
  • Analyse CI/CD workflows to identify performance trends, bottlenecks, anomalies and recurring failures.
  • Apply machine-learning, large language models and other AI techniques to log analysis, root-cause investigation and operational recommendations.
  • Support the development, testing, deployment and monitoring of reliable analytics services using DevOps practices.

Contract:
This role is offered on a fixed-term basis until 30 June 2027.

This is full-time, working 35 hours per week.

Salary and benefits:
Grade 7 of the College's London Pay Scale which is £44,247 rising to £50,379 per annum.
