Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing

The School of Nursing and Allied Health (SoNAH) at Birmingham Newman University is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Adult Nursing to join our growing academic team.

As our portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate pre-registration nursing programmes continues to develop, we are expanding our academic team to support programme growth, maintain our commitment to an outstanding student experience, and contribute to the ongoing development of an ambitious and innovative nursing portfolio. The successful post holder will play a key role in the delivery, development and enhancement of Adult Nursing education, working collaboratively with colleagues across Nursing and Allied Health to prepare the next generation of healthcare professionals.

We are seeking either experienced nurse academics or enthusiastic registered nurses who are interested in developing their careers within higher education. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching, assessment, simulation-based education, academic support, curriculum development, practice learning activity and partnership working with employers and placement providers. The role will include supporting students in both university and practice learning environments and contributing to the wider academic and strategic development of the School.

Applicants should hold current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council, with no restrictions on their practice, and demonstrate a clear commitment to maintaining their professional registration and continuing professional development. Candidates should possess contemporary knowledge of nursing practice and education, together with a commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment where diversity is celebrated and all students are supported to succeed.

We would also consider applications from candidates who hold a Learning Disabilities Nursing qualification, provided they can demonstrate relevant professional and educational experience and clearly evidence how their knowledge, skills and practice expertise can be applied to pre-registration Adult Nursing and Mental Health Nursing education.

Applicants will also need to demonstrate that they hold a recognised teaching qualification or Fellowship of Advance HE, or that they are willing to work towards an appropriate teaching qualification or Fellowship.

For appointment at Senior Lecturer level, applicants should additionally demonstrate evidence of academic or educational leadership. This may include curriculum development, module or programme leadership, quality assurance, educational innovation, or significant leadership of education within professional practice or higher education settings.
