About the role

As a Lecturer (Teaching) in Medical Education, you will join a supportive academic team working to deliver and enhance our undergraduate MBBS curriculum. Focusing on the spiral theme of Research, Leadership, Personal Development and Medical Education, you will contribute to curriculum design, teaching, assessment and the development of engaging learning resources across a range of educational settings. You will also support students through personal tutoring, work collaboratively with colleagues across the Medical School, and contribute to educational scholarship and research. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with others, is passionate about developing future doctors, and wants to help shape an innovative and inclusive learning experience.

Appointment Details

  • The post is available on a part-time basis at 0.6FTE/21.9 hours and is graded on Grade 8.
  • Salary for Grade 8 ranges from £54,931 to £64,644 per annum including London allowance (pro-rata at 0.6FTE £32,958.6 to £38,786.4 per annum including London allowance).
  • Applicants who work medically at a SAS grade under a separate contract with an NHS Trust or public health body will be placed on UCL’s clinical pay scales as per the CL8 grade. They will be expected to join their clinical and this teaching roles under a single contract, as per the Follett Principles.
  • You will be placed on CL8 if jointly combined with a medical role or G8 if standalone teaching position.
  • The appointment is offered on a fixed term basis for a period of 9 months (or until the return of the substantive post holder) and available asap.
  • Due to the requirements of this role, we are unable to offer working hours below 0.6 FTE.
  • This role is eligible for hybrid working with a minimum of 40% on site.

This role does not meet the eligibility requirements for a Skilled Worker Visa certificate of sponsorship under UK Visas and Immigration legislation. Therefore UCL will not be able to sponsor individuals who require right to work in the UK to carry out this role.

About you

You will be an experienced clinician or researcher with a genuine enthusiasm for medical education and supporting student learning. You will bring experience of teaching undergraduate medical or healthcare students and an understanding of contemporary educational approaches, alongside excellent communication and organisational skills. You enjoy working collaboratively, value different perspectives and are keen to contribute to curriculum development, educational research and continuous improvement. Whether your experience has been gained through clinical practice, research or higher education, you will be committed to creating an inclusive learning environment where students and colleagues can thrive, while continuing to develop your own skills as a medical educator.
