About the role

The department of Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment invites applications for the position of Lecturer (Teaching) in Science Education (Biology). This is an exciting opportunity for an appropriately experienced individual to become part of the subject team for the PGCE Science and/or MA Education (Science) and it is expected that you will engage in relevant teaching and supervision of students for either/both of these programmes. The postholder will also be expected to engage in scholarship and / or research in science education.

The post is offered on a part-time basis (0.20 FTE / 7.30 hours per week), on an open ended contract.

Due to the nature of the duties, a DBS check will be required.

About you

The successful candidate will have good first degree, or equivalent experience, in an area relevant to Science education. You will a masters’ (or higher) degree in education or related field (either complete or nearing completion) and have a Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent.

In addition, you will have experience of working effectively with student teachers and/or other school colleagues to support their professional development, alongside a working knowledge of ITE and/or Masters’ programmes and have a good knowledge of science curriculum and a wide range of learning and teaching approaches suited to the learning needs of postgraduate students.
