About us
UCL is a world-leading research-intensive university with one of the UK's largest and most diverse research portfolios.
Our Research and Innovation Services (RIS) directorate supports UCL's academic community throughout the research and innovation lifecycle. Within RIS, the Post Award Operations team ensures research funding is managed effectively, responsibly and in accordance with institutional and funder requirements.
About the role
We are seeking a Research Finance Manager to lead a team of Research Finance Administrators responsible for the financial management of a diverse portfolio of research and innovation awards.
You'll oversee post-award financial activities, including reconciliations, budgets, forecasting, reporting, claims, compliance and award closure, ensuring financial risks and issues are effectively managed.
Working closely with academic departments, funders and Professional Services colleagues, you'll provide specialist advice on complex financial matters, support and develop your team, and contribute to improving financial processes, controls and service delivery.
About you
You'll have significant post-award financial management experience within a research-intensive university, including managing awards from a range of funders, international funding and foreign currency transactions.
You'll bring strong financial and analytical skills, with experience of reconciliation, forecasting, financial reporting and resolving discrepancies, alongside a sound understanding of funder requirements and financial compliance.
You'll also be an experienced people manager with excellent communication, stakeholder management and organisational skills, able to manage competing priorities, provide specialist advice and drive continuous improvement.
