Specialist Technician (Learning & Teaching) 3D

The opportunity

To provide support for student learning through informal and formal training and instruction, helping students develop proficiency in highly specialist techniques, production methods and technologies across the area of 3D making.

The role will include delivering demonstrations and practical teaching sessions in classrooms and workshops, as well as preparing equipment, materials and learning resources for teaching activities. You will provide professional expertise, guidance and advice and contribute to the delivery of academic activities within the College.

You will contribute critical input into students’ concepts and creative intentions, including providing feedback through formative assessment with reference to the appropriate learning outcomes of the course or project. You will also generate appropriate learning materials, information and workshop methodologies as required.

About you 

Essential: A degree or equivalent professional qualification in Jewellery and 3D Design, Silversmithing or a related subject, or demonstrable professional industry experience in jewellery design and manufacture. You will have strong knowledge and practical experience of specialist jewellery making and PUK welding, together with hands-on experience using jewellery-specific machinery. 

You will have a good understanding of workshop health and safety procedures and the ability to promote safe working practices. Good communication and interpersonal skills are also essential, along with the ability to explain technical processes clearly and support students in developing their practical skills. 

Desirable: Experience with contemporary jewellery production methods and digital technologies, including mould making, casting and other 3D production techniques.
