We’re looking for an experienced and motivated professional to join us as Digital Workspace Manager within 2nd Line IT Services, part of Computing and Library Services. This is an exciting opportunity to support Schools and Services across the University while helping to deliver high-quality, customer-focused IT services aligned with our Digital Strategy.

Reporting to the Head of 2nd Line IT Services, you will be responsible for managing, supporting, leading and developing staff within the University’s Digital Workspace Team. You will provide authoritative technical and operational leadership for the technologies and platforms that underpin the end-user digital experience, ensuring these services are secure, resilient, supportable, and continually improved in alignment with University strategy and IT service management best practice.

As the senior technical specialist for the Digital Workspace estate, you will help shape and develop the technical roadmap and future direction for end-user operating systems and mobile device management platforms. You will bring strong practical technical and scripting expertise across enterprise operating systems and management platforms, including Windows, macOS, Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, MECM/ECM and Jamf Pro, to engineer, maintain, and automate digital workspace environments.

You will manage key relationships with internal stakeholders and maintain relationships with external technology vendors to ensure consistent service delivery and provide technical oversight for purchasing decisions.

You will need excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interpret complex organisational requirements, translate them into supportable technical solutions, and resolve technical challenges across academic and professional service departments.

Qualified to degree level in a computing or IT-related subject, or possessing equivalent relevant professional experience, you will have proven experience of managing, motivating, and developing technical staff within an IT platform engineering environment. You will also hold, or be willing to work towards, ITIL Foundation certification and Chartered Membership of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) within your first 12 months of employment.
