This full-time, fixed-term post is available immediately for a period of one year. Applications for secondments will be considered subject to agreement from your current line manager.

The starting salary will be from £33,951 to £34,610 per annum on Grade E, depending on knowledge, skills and experience. Please note there will be no possibility to negotiate above this range.

The Role:
Are you passionate about data analytics and data engineering and interested in applying these skills within the built environment?

We are seeking a Data Analyst to join our Digital Estates team, where the primary focus of the role is on data integration, analytics, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and maintain data pipelines and workflows that integrate data from multiple sources, including operational systems, space and asset registers, BIM datasets, and other digital platforms.
• Maintain high-quality, well-structured datasets that support operational reporting, performance analysis, and institutional returns (e.g. HESA EMR, TRAC).
• Develop dashboards and analytical reports using Power BI to support planning, performance monitoring, compliance, and decision-making.
• Apply data analytics techniques using Python, SQL, or R to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities across the estate.
• Work with engineers and system owners to integrate data from building systems (e.g. BMS, meters, sensors) into analytical workflows.
• Support information management across the asset lifecycle by ensuring data aligns with agreed standards and classifications (e.g. ISO 19650, Uniclass, SFG20, COBie).
• Collaborate with Digital Estates colleagues to support structured information handover from projects into operational systems.
• Promote good practice in data governance, documentation, and repeatable workflows.
• Support training and engagement activities to improve data literacy across Estates Services.

About You:
You are a data-focused professional who enjoys working with complex datasets and building reliable, repeatable data workflows. You are comfortable translating business questions into analytical outputs and communicating insights to non-technical audiences.

You may have experience in estates, property, infrastructure, energy, or another data-rich sector, and are motivated by the opportunity to apply data analytics to real-world operational and sustainability challenges.

Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:

• A BSc or MSc in Data Analytics Data Science, Computer Science, Software/Data Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analysis Statistics/Mathematics, or an Engineering discipline relevant to the built environment (e.g., Building Services, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical).
• Experience in a data analyst or data engineering role involving the design and delivery of data pipelines (ETL/ELT), including data ingestion, transformation, validation, and reporting.
• Strong skills in Python and/or SQL for data processing, automation, and building repeatable data workflows.
• Experience integrating data from multiple source systems (e.g. operational systems, asset registers, project data or spatial datasets) into structured analytical datasets.
• Experience developing and maintaining dashboards and reports using Power BI (or equivalent tools) to support operational and strategic decision-making.
• Experience working with structured datasets, applying data standards, classifications, and quality controls to ensure consistency, traceability, and reliability.
• Ability to document and maintain data workflows and transformations to support transparency, auditability, and reuse.
