Job description:
Are you an experienced governance, risk and resilience professional who thrives on building trust and helping organisations withstand disruption? We have an exciting opportunity to join the University of Sheffield as our new Digital Risk and Resilience Manager.
We have an exciting opportunity in IT Services for someone with a passion for governance, assurance and organisational resilience, looking to use their skills in risk management, business continuity and IT service operations to make a tangible impact across one of the University's most critical service areas.
You'll join our Security & Assurance team, working alongside colleagues trusted by senior leaders across the University for expert, pragmatic advice on protecting and enabling our digital environment. Our team has built a strong reputation for its work on information security governance, cyber resilience and assurance, and this role gives you the chance to shape how we manage risk and resilience for years to come.
In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of risk and resilience across IT Services - leading business continuity and disaster recovery planning, exercising and testing - working closely with the University's central risk BC teams to keep our arrangements robust and aligned with wider institutional plans. You will line manage our Business Continuity Lead, and be a visible, credible voice for governance, risk and resilience across the department and the wider University.
You will have significant experience of governance, assurance and risk management in a large, complex organisation, along with a solid, practical understanding of business continuity and disaster resilience. You will bring hands-on experience of how IT and digital services are designed, delivered and operated (for example, using frameworks such as ITIL), and hold a relevant professional qualification in information security, risk management or business continuity (such as CISSP, CISM or MBCI) or equivalent experience. You will also bring proven people leadership and influencing skills, as you will manage a colleague and engage confidently with senior stakeholders.
This role offers you the opportunity to shape a growing risk and resilience capability within IT Services, working at the heart of a large, complex organisation with exposure to senior leadership across the University.
We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.
