About us
The Faculty of Brain Sciences is a global leader in research and education focused on the mind and brain. Our vision is to solve the greatest health and wellbeing challenges in brain sciences, reducing the global burden of disease and transforming lives around the world. We are ranked first in the UK for research power in Psychology, Psychiatry and Neuroscience (REF 2021).
The Faculty Marketing and Communications team provides strategic leadership for communications across the Faculty. Through compelling content, campaigns and audience insight, we showcase the impact of our work, strengthen our reputation and support Faculty priorities.
About the role
If you're a strategic communicator with excellent editorial judgement, a passion for storytelling and a strong understanding of how communications can support organisational objectives, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact at one of the world's leading centres for brain sciences research and education.
As Senior Communications Manager, you will play a leading role in the delivery of the Faculty's communications function, supporting the Head of Marketing and Communications in delivering the Faculty Marketing and Communications Strategy.
Working closely with academic and professional services colleagues across the Faculty's divisions and institutes, you will develop and deliver integrated communications that enhance the Faculty's profile and reputation, showcase its work and support strategic priorities.
Through compelling content, campaigns and creative communications, you will help bring the Faculty's priorities and impact to life for internal and external audiences. You will translate complex research, education, innovation and enterprise activity into engaging and accessible communications that demonstrate impact and support strategic objectives. Working across multiple channels, you will ensure the Faculty's work reaches and engages our audiences.
The role is available from December and is a permanent role.
To apply, please upload a current CV, complete the online application form, and use the supporting statement section or upload a cover letter to outline how you meet the essential and desirable criteria for the role. Please do not upload any additional attachments as these will not be considered by the selection panel.
Interviews will take place on Tuesday 1st December.
About you
You should have experience of planning and delivering strategic communication campaigns, with knowledge of creating content through multiple different formats. Demonstrable levels of digital literacy, writing and editing skills are essential, as well as good interpersonal and communication skills. You will be highly organised and able to work under pressure and compete with different priorities. Experience of communicating complex subject matters such as research or science would be desirable.
