This full-time post is available immediately on a fixed-term basis for 12 months. Applications for secondments will be considered subject to agreement from your current line manager.
The starting salary will be from £33,951 on Grade E, depending on knowledge, skills and experience.
This role offers the opportunity for some hybrid working – some time on campus and some from home - depending on service demand.
Please note this role is subject to a DBS check. At the University of Exeter, we are committed to the safeguarding and welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults. We expect all our staff to share this commitment.
We are seeking to appoint a Wellbeing Advisor within the Triage and Outreach team of Wellbeing Services. The role will support the delivery of initial triage appointments for the service and include understanding a student's concerns and signposting them on to appropriate further support in a stepped care approach.
Wellbeing Services has been established to provide a range of health promotion events on campus, as well as to develop illness prevention and intervention services. Our vision is to offer accessible and flexible support for the whole range of wellbeing issues that can impact upon student learning. We are looking for enthusiastic staff who can contribute to our vision for Wellbeing Services through supporting and helping to develop a new Triage and Outreach team, offering comprehensive initial triage appointments to our diverse student community while advancing our university-wide outreach work. Initial Triage Appointments (Drop-Ins) provide space for a student to share their difficulties and create an action plan with a practitioner to move forward.
About You
You will be skilled at identifying wellbeing needs, signposting accordingly, identifying and screening for risk and completing any necessary onward referrals, including liaison with other departments – both internal to Wellbeing Services, the wider University and External services. You will be an experienced practitioner within the wellbeing/welfare field who has a thoughtful and adaptable approach to your work, with a real interest in sensitively supporting students with potentially complex difficulties. You will have a passion for early-intervention and supporting the wider service Outreach work to encourage students to reach out for mental health and wellbeing support.
Please ensure you read the Job Description and Person Specification (available on the university's website, accessed by the 'Apply' button) for full details of this role.
