Oxford Brookes University is seeking to hire a dynamic Applications Developer with deep commercial knowledge of QlikView Dashboard Design and Development.

The Business Intelligence team plays a key part in supporting the Universitys planning strategies, with its growing range of QlikView and NPrinting reports used as a mainstay in Brookes's operational planning, quality review and strategic planning processes. The reports are used by over 1500 academic and professional colleagues across the university.

This is an exciting time to join the university; through substantial capital investment in new technology, we are increasingly using student data as a critical asset to benefit the student experience. The role holder will be supporting strategic decisions around the direction for BI and data warehousing to deliver this, working with software that is recognised as cutting edge across the industry.

Role Focus

As part of the four-person Business Intelligence team, the role holder will design, construct, test, deploy and optimize QlikView dashboards and NPrinting reports, taking the lead on end-to-end development of many of the projects.

Over the next few months, the role holder will also be working closely with the Data Warehousing team in a significant project to provide an end-to-end Business Intelligence function, which will underpin key University strategies such as the University's financial planning process, and improve business intelligence around Learning Analytics and marketing.

They will also be involved in the launch and positioning of QlikSense within Brookes, and will be instrumental in its roll-out to our advanced users, opening up completely new ways of data mining and business intelligence for the university.

Main Activities

  • Designing, developing, testing and deploying QlikView dashboards and NPrinting
  • Load Scripting from different sources; Performance Tuning
  • Configuring, troubleshooting, supporting and maintaining the existing suite of platform dashboards
  • Business analysis to define requirements for new dashboards
  • Providing expert advice, coaching and occasional workshops for new, existing and non-technical users
  • Making strategic recommendations on best practice to support the software and BI strategy.

Essential Experience:

  • QlikView, NPrinting
  • End to end development skills
  • QlikView Management Console (QMC)
  • Requirements analysis from business stakeholders.

Commercial knowledge and skills desired:

  • QlikSense
  • Data warehousing environments with significant involvement in data extraction.
  • User Interface design
  • Oracle PL/SQL
  • User training, running workshops.
