IT Support Officer

We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable IT support professional to join our developing IT team. Based at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering (IBME) at our Headington campus and working as a member of a team of 25 IT professionals you will help deliver and improve IT support to the Department of Engineering Science’s academic, support and student community.

Reporting to the Research IT Support Manager and working alongside the Senior Computing Support Officer and Linux Systems Engineer you will provide advice and hands on IT support, including recommending and commissioning new IT equipment, troubleshooting and resolving problems, and taking part in IT projects to improve services or deliver new functionality.

Your contribution will support cutting edge and award winning research in diverse fields including non-invasive drug delivery and regenerative medicine. Your work will enable the teaching of 600 undergraduates as they undertake an intensive 4-year academic programme that has produced some of the world’s top business and engineering leaders.

Working with us you will have the opportunity to work with a wide range of technologies and platforms. You can expect to be involved in service improvement projects looking at everything from collaboration using cloud data storage to virtual reality.

You should be educated to degree (or equivalent) level with a broad IT technical background ideally from a support environment. Experience of managing a small team as well as excellent organisational and communication skills are essential.
