Job summary

The Market Insight and Data Manager will enable strategic evidence-based decision making at the College, with a particular focus on pre-enrolment. This is a key role that will work with senior stakeholders across the College, developing means for delivering accessible, self-serve data and analysis that will in turn generate clear findings and actions that inform decision making enable continuous improvement.

You will be a motivated self-starter, with a spirit of enquiry and strong communication and relationship management skills. Working in partnership with multiple stakeholders they will be able to identify and respond to business need and strategic challenges, and deliver the required insight, approach, framework and datasets that allows the College to progress in meeting its ambitious objectives. Importantly, this will include working with colleagues in ICT to develop ‘single source of truth’ data sources, and championing a self-serve approach to accessing this data.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead on the development of self-serve business intelligence solutions built in Microsoft Fabric/Power BI.
  • Coordinate and manage relationships between users of insight and data within Marketing, Recruitment, and Admissions and beyond, and technical staff responsible for development and maintenance of our data structures.
  • Cultivate relationships and build networks with a wide range of staff at all levels who are involved in the development, operationalization, and usage of management information and data, to promote analytical best practice, champion a self-serve culture, and deliver a single source of truth.
  • Lead the Market Insight and Data Officers in building a comprehensive Power BI estate, providing data and insight on all relevant areas, internal and external.
  • Monitor and collate sector published research and identify relevant insight that can be used to inform future direction into market
  • Support the Head of Market Insight and Data in portfolio and analysis and new course proposals, producing market demand reports for Departments and Faculties, working closely with the appropriate Faculty Marketing Manager or Marketing contact.

Essential requirements

  • Highly numerate and analytical. Experience of joining, transforming, and interrogating large datasets to deliver recommendations and actionable insight.
  • Experience in designing/developing business intelligence estates to deliver self-serve reporting and insight in a coherent and cohesive manner; and championing a self-serve approach to data access.
  • Demonstrable experience in communicating data in engaging and compelling formats and presenting outcomes in a clear and concise manner.
  • Substantial experience of working in partnership with senior stakeholders in a complex environment to understand priorities and challenges, and translate these into requirements for reporting/analytics solutions.
  • Experience in successful multiple project management.
  • Proven ability to accurately research, analyse and interpret complex datasets from multiple sources.
  • In-depth knowledge of business intelligence tools e.g. Power BI or Tableau.
