The Department of Germanic Studies in the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies at Trinity College Dublin welcomes applications for a fixed-term post as Assistant Professor in German Literature and Culture for a fixed period (Aug 2024 to Jan 2026). The purpose of the post is to cover teaching arising out of the retirement of the current Chair of German until a new Chair of German is appointed and in place.
The successful candidate will have a completed PhD or equivalent and, depending on their career stage, show clear potential to develop a strong research profile. Near-native language competence and ability to teach in German are required. The person appointed will be required to teach an average of 8 hours per week. The teaching, to be conducted in German and in English, will include lectures and tutorials/seminars for undergraduate students of the Department of Germanic Studies. It will include the teaching of literature and culture as well as language teaching.
This post is full-time, fixed-term. Applicants must be available to start August 2024.
