Applications are invited for the following postdoctoral researcher position for the following project:

Bench-Top Testing of Implantable Urological Devices

The position will be based in the Lally Lab (https://www.lallylab.eu) in the Trinity Centre for Biomedical Engineering (TCBE) within the Advanced Materials and Bioengineering Research Centre (AMBER) centre. The goal of the Lally lab is to develop in vitro and in-silico testing platforms for the optimisation and development of medical devices, particularly vascular and urological devices, through the advancement of knowledge of soft tissue mechanics and the use of non-invasive imaging techniques.

Summary of project: Development of a bench-top test for implantable urological device

The aim of this project is to develop a bench-top system for testing urological devices which can aid in the optimisation of these devices. The work will involve materials testing, 3D printing, test rig design and medical device testing.

The researcher will work closely with other members of a multidisciplinary team including PIs, clinicians, engineers, postdoctoral research fellows and postgraduate researchers in the Trinity Centre for Biomedical Engineering and Boston Scientific.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD in biomedical engineering and extensive experience and expertise in soft tissue testing (including cadaveric tissue), in-vitro test rig design and development, biomaterials development and characterisation, 3D polymer printing, polymer chemistry, medical device design, data analysis and computer programming (e.g. Matlab, Labview, python). Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential.

The salary will be at a point in the range €42,783 to €49,177 per annum depending on experience, with an annual increment if applicable.
