About the MacGregor Centre for Global Blood Pressure Control
Queen Mary University of London’s Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry is launching the MacGregor Centre for Global Blood Pressure Control. This pioneering, multi-million-pound initiative unites world-leading expertise in hypertension research, cardiovascular prevention, and clinical care. Named after the late Professor Graham MacGregor CBE FMedSci, a global authority on salt reduction and nutrition policy, the Centre will tackle the world’s leading cause of preventable death: high blood pressure.
With £10 million in funding from Queen Mary University of London and the Blood Pressure Research Trust, this Centre will unite existing excellence in Blood Pressure research, education and clinical care in the William Harvey Research Institute, the Wolfson Institute of Population Health Sciences and the Barts Heart Centre. Its foundation will drive translational research, policy change, and innovation for better global health, starting with the 2.5 million people living in our diverse East London community.
