Research Fellow in International Economics

The Faculty of International Relations (FIR) at the University of Economics in Prague, Czechia is seeking high-potential post-doctoral candidate for the position: Research Fellow in International Economics. We seek to appoint a research fellow to help support and contribute to the research output of the Faculty. We invite applications for scholars with a research interest in any area of international economics. A focus on the field of international trade is particularly welcome but not essential. The successful candidate will have relevant postgraduate qualifications, and experience in international economics research, including writing grant applications and applying for funding. Knowledge of quantitative and qualitative research methods, and the ability to work as part of a team and to organize and prioritize your own work are essential.

Due to the strict eligibility requirements of the University of Economics in Prague, the candidate is expected to meet following criteria:

  • Ph.D. in any relevant area related to the position, obtained less than 7 years as of the end-date of the selection procedure (expected by July 31, 2018).
  • Demonstrable track record in research outputs, previous publications – at least 2 publications in last 3 years indexed in Thompson Reuters Web of Science, ERIH or Scopus as article, book, book chapter, letter or review.
  • Demonstrable previous international research experiences (outside Czech Republic for at least 2 from last 3 years as Ph.D. student or research fellow with minimum 0,5 FTE).

The fellow will have an opportunity to work with the faculty members, to actively join regular research seminars, to access school facilities as well as the university library and to apply for internal, national and international grants. Fellows are also encouraged to present their research outputs at international conferences and workshops abroad. The fellowship also includes a personal budget for financing travel costs or any other item related to research activities.

We offer:

  • a competitive salary 3 000 EUR1/monthly + personal budget up to 3 250 EUR/yearly;
  • regular mentoring and consultations with experienced member of the Faculty;
  • fixed term contract for 15 months, with an option to extent for another up to 17 months upon results and performance.

The position opens in September 1, 2018.

Selection criteria
The selection criteria include:

  1. Candidates' research scope adherence with the requirements defined for the position.
  2. Candidate’s potential for high quality research.
  3. Experience with team work, knowledge transfers and management of research projects.
  4. Quality of publications.

Selected candidates will be contacted and invited to skype pre-selection interview at the beginning of July and to final stage interviews by the end of July. The final decision will be announced within the first two weeks of August.
