We're looking for two experienced electricians who would like to work in the afternoons and evenings. You will join one of our Gas Fitter/Plumbers, working as a team of three covering a 12pm to 8pm shift and providing reactive and planned maintenance services for our internal customers on the Canterbury campus.
You'll be part of a wider team of over 40 multi-disciplinary and professional trades people which is responsible for keeping our buildings running effectively and efficiently. The team also ensures statutory compliance and regulatory requirements are met, and where possible we aim to exceed these requirements. There will be a 6% supervisor's allowance potentially available for a candidate with appropriate experience (to be discussed at interview).

The successful applicant will have:
City & Guilds level 2 or 3 or equivalent qualification in an electrical engineering discipline and will hold a BS7671 qualification, including testing for the latest edition of the regulations.
Proven experience of working as an electrician in a maintenance environment with a mix of PPM and reactive work, including fault-finding and resolution.
The ability to work as part of a mixed-disciplinary team.
A current awareness and understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements relating to your work.
A measured and effective approach under pressure with the ability to remain professional with colleagues, customers and other stakeholders at all times.

The Estates Department provides a number of essential services to the University of Kent and is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the extensive grounds and buildings; the security of students, staff and visitors; transport and travel; a postal service and the telephone exchange as well as the University Design & Print Centre.
