Faculty of Health and Life Sciences

The University of Liverpool is committed to public engagement, is a signatory of the manifesto of public engagement and has a strong portfolio of existing activities. One of the University's key strategic priorities is to drive forward knowledge exchange, and public engagement (including patient involvement) is a core component of our KE definition and activities. Part funded by the Wellcome Trust, the Faculty Public Engagement Officer post was created to proactively coordinate public engagement activities and to develop a culture where public engagement is seen as a two-way dialogue that can have valuable input throughout the lifecycle of research activity.

Based in the Health and Life Sciences Research and Impact Directorate, and reporting to the Head of Research Development and Delivery, you will work closely with academic and professional services colleagues within the Faculty's institutes as well as central offices such as Marketing and Communications and Research and Impact. You will operate independently and be responsible for planning your workload and meeting multiple deadlines. You should have a Degree (or equivalent qualification or relevant professional experience) and will maintain and build a network of relevant contacts throughout the institution to help drive forward your area of responsibility.

You will be responsible for championing public engagement in the Health and Life Sciences Faculty and managing a programme of public engagement training, resources and events and an annual public engagement award and showcase event. Other responsibilities will include ensuring we learn from national best practice and are linked in with appropriate networks, initiatives and resources for public engagement.

The post is available to cover a period of maternity leave, expected to last until 31 January 2021.
