Hubei Polytechnic University (HBPU for short) invites applications for part time instructors to teach undergraduate course in Autumn 2020 online.

Hubei Polytechnic University (HBPU) is a public university located in Huangshi, Hubei Province, central China. It focuses on engineering, and trains applied talents. It now covers eight academic areas: Engineering, Science, Economics, Management, Literature, Medicine, Education and Arts. It has 21 teaching units (departments, centers) and 55 undergraduate majors. 

Course Description: 

  • Intro to Fluid Mechanics(96 teaching hours, 8 weeks, between September-November, 2020) 

The instructor will provide the topics that are generally found in a university-level Intro to Fluid Mechanics class. Topics include: Properties of fluids - pressure, density/Ideal gas law/Viscosity/Hydrostatic forces of plane and curved surfaces/Buoyancy/Reynolds Transport Theorem etc. 

  • Mechanics of Materials(96 teaching hours, 8 weeks, between September-November, 2020) 

The instructor will provide the basic knowledge in the field of solid mechanics and materials, aims to disseminate quality research work in the broad spectrum of engineering and natural materials. 

  • Physics(96 teaching hours, 8 weeks, between September-November, 2020) 

First semester of a one-year calculus-based introduction to physics. Topics normally include vectors, kinematics, Newton’s laws of motion, work and energy, momentum, rotational and orbital motion, torque, angular momentum, and oscillations.  

  • Introduction to Engineering(96 teaching hours, 8 weeks, September-November, 2020) 

Part-time instructor to teach one or more courses. This course provides engineering students with the communication skills needed in college and throughout their careers, and introduces them to the profession of engineering, computer skills, report generation, public speaking, leadership and teamwork skills are covered.  

  • Digital Fundamentals(96 teaching hours, 8 weeks, between September-November, 2020)– Part-time instructor to teach one or more courses. The design and analysis of digital systems that the bit, gate, flip-flop level with particular emphasis on the application of digital systems. Topics include Boolean algebra, logic gates, and integrated circuit design including the use of Karnaugh maps to minimize the number of gates; combinational systems such as arithmetic circuits, decoders, encoders, and multiplexers, and dynamic logic blocks as latches. 
  • Introduction to Micro-controller (48 teaching hours + 14 Lab hours, 6-8 weeks, between May -July, 2020) - To provide a basic knowledge of microprocessors, microprocessor programming, and interfacing that will allow the student to interface a representative microprocessor or microcontroller with the "outside world". Topics include Number Systems and Computer Arithmetic, Microcontroller Architecture, Input and Output Operations, Interrupts, Direct Memory Access, FreeRTOS, Common Peripherals (Timer, A/D, ...). 


  1. Master's degree inrelated major or field.
  2. English high-level speaker is preferred;
  3. Patient and enthusiastic for teaching with high sense of responsibility;
  4. Ideally more than 3 years’ teaching or training experience is preferred;
  5. Understanding American higher education system, assessment methods and requirements.
